Best Savings and Discounts for This Recession: Despite constant claims, with ‘selected’ data to back them up, that we’re not in a recession, anyone who buys groceries or puts gasoline into their cars is painfully aware of the huge recession in which we are all living. The evidence is everywhere, and it’s being felt strongly by everyone… Well, at least everyone who actually works for a living.
The Impacts of a Recession
Recession, when improperly and incompetently handled at the highest levels, causes rampant inflation… And rampant inflation worsens the recession. It’s a vicious cycle… And we’re only just at the beginning. Until economic prosperity can be restored, it is us, the honest, hard-working citizens who bear the brunt of the economic devastation. The elite certainly aren’t suffering, at least not in any way that WE would call suffering. No, they’re busy lecturing us, belittling our real economic struggles… And telling us how we should ignore the evidence of our own eyes and wallets and focus instead on globalist ideals.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying ideals are not important. Sustainability is certainly important if we want to survive as a species. And equal opportunity for all is a cornerstone of our country’s foundation. Both are ideals to which we should all strive. However, if we can’t survive economically, none of our ideals and good intentions matter. None of our ideals will ever be realized without economic independence and stability. It’s that simple.
So, for us, the honest, hardworking citizens, we need a strategy for surviving this recession and regaining economic independence and stability. As most of us don’t have cushy nest eggs to fall back on… Or have already depleted the nest egg we so painstakingly created… We need to lower our costs of living so that we can survive this.
Best Savings Strategies
Lowering our cost of living is an obvious strategy for surviving a recession. There are many ways to accomplish that. And eliminating unnecessary spending is at the top of that list. If you have the land, you could totally go ‘old school’ and grow your own fruits and vegetables, raise chickens, cattle, etc. and make your own clothing, tools, etc. I have to admit that returning to a simpler way of life has a very strong appeal. But not everyone has the ability to do that.
Another, maybe more practical, way for many is to look for ways to save money on the goods and services you pay for regularly. One strategy I’ve found particularly helpful in my life is to understand when certain items are on sale. Many items have a season. And at the end of that season is when you will find the best prices on those items. For example, if you need a new grill, the best time to buy one is near the end of summer. But did you know that bath towels have a season? They do! In fact, most items have a season. And when you know what that season is, you’ll know when is the best time to find a good deal on those items. Best Savings and Discounts
But what if the item you need is a year-round item, meaning it doesn’t really have a season? Or what if you need something right away and can’t wait for the end of season sales? Well, that’s where I start looking for coupons and discounts.
I always sign up for notifications of coupons and discounts at the stores and restaurants where I shop and eat regularly. Sometimes the constant barrage of emails and/or texts is annoying, to say the least. But the discounts can be worth it.
But if your current needs and priorities do not align with the stores’ current promotions, being a member of a discount club is extremely beneficial. With exclusive membership comes exclusive discounts… All. The. Time. No need to wait for a sale or close-out special. But how do you choose the right discount club for you?
Choosing the Right Discount / Savings Club for You
First, make sure you’re not buying into a scam. Scammers are everywhere and some are quite convincing. I always search up reviews and testimonials, especially those not on the club’s website. Clubs have control over what’s posted on their sites, and not all of them are on the up and up. So, searching the web for YouTubers and bloggers who review products independently can provide valuable insight.
Second, look for a club that offers savings on items you really need and actually use and at places you actually shop. For example, if you’ve always wanted to travel, but you have a newborn baby and know you won’t be able to do so for at least a few more years, joining a discount travel club may not be the best use of your hard-earned money… at least not right now. Maybe look for a savings / discount club that offers discounts on baby needs and supplies.
Third, calculate your expected savings vs. the fees. This one actually takes some effort on your part. Set realistic expectations for what you plan to purchase, how much, and how often. Calculate the discounts and compare that to the fees. As long as your estimates are realistic, you will be able to evaluate whether or not joining any particular club is worth it FOR YOU! And remember, just because it’s great for your bestie, doesn’t mean it’s great for you. Also, check out the cancellation policy. So, if you find that you’re not getting the benefits you expected, you’re fully informed on how and when a cancellation can be processed. Of course, once you’ve chosen the right club, this becomes less of an issue.
Savings Highway Global
Savings Highway Global is fairly new on the Savings and Discounts Club scene, and I have to say that, so far, I’ve been quite impressed. (And I don’t say that lightly!) There are multiple levels of entry, starting at just $20/month. There’s no long term commitment. Membership is month-to-month. And you can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at any time.
As with everything that promises to save me money if I pay a fee up front, I was skeptical, so I started at the $20 level and was meticulous in documenting my savings to determine if a higher level was worth it to me. Was it? No contest: YES! For my family and me… and our spending habits… this club has easily paid for itself many times over.
Not only are there discounts at many of the places where I currently do business, they also offer HUGE discounted (group) rates on health and dental insurance, as well as home and auto insurance. The rates are better than many employers offer… and the benefits are as good or even better.
There are also amazing, discounted rates for travel, if travel is a part of your life. And even discounted legal services… And my favorite: pet supplies. Even at the basic (Gold) level, the discounts are incredible.
So, if you’re ready to see what Savings Highway Global can offer you:
