Chalk Bag? Lose it! Liquid Chalk is Better

Do you use a chalk bag? Are you a weightlifter? Gymnast? Cross-Fitter? Arm Wrestler? Rock Climber? Do you play baseball or racket sports? If so, you’re probably already aware of the pros and cons of using a chalk bag.

A better grip can be the difference between setting your own personal record and missing it. And when you’ve trained so hard, put in all the hours, improved your mind set, and put in your best effort every day, missing your goal because of something as small as your grip on the bar, racket, or bat is devastating. So using a chalk bag to keep a better grip is a no-brainer, right?

However, there is a downside to using a chalk bag, and that downside mostly revolves around the dust. You know what I mean. You create a cloud of dust every time you chalk your hands. It flies around until it settles on your (or someone else’s) clothes, on the equipment or floor, or in your (or someone else’s) nasal passages or lungs. Not a pretty thought, is it?

Dust on your clothes is a minor inconvenience when compared to the advantage of a better grip. But chalk on the gym floor can be slippery, and therefore a safety hazard. And just the thought of chalk dust in my nasal passages or in my lungs makes me think, “There must be a better way.”

Some gyms, too, are beginning to ban chalk bags due to the liability they present. So, what’s the solution?

Liquid Chalk – Better Than A Chalk Bag

Liquid Chalk has emerged as an alternative to the chalk bag. The idea of liquid chalk has been around since the days of the manual typewriter, when White Out emerged as a way to correct typing mistakes, without having to re-type the entire page. And now the sports world has modified and improved that product to create a better alternative to the chalk bag.

Liquid chalk is super convenient, easy-to-use, and dust-cloud-free. You get all the benefits of the chalk, with a better, more stable grip, just without the dust cloud. Just pour a nickel-sized portion onto one hand, rub your hands together, and let it dry for about 15 seconds. That’s it!

When the liquid chalk dries, it’s in every nook and cranny, with no bare spots. And it’s real chalk, so once dry, it functions just like the chalk from the bag, giving you a better grip on that bat, bar or racket. When you factor in that it lasts longer on your hands than dry chalk from the bag, liquid chalk clearly emerges as the superior option. But that’s not all…

Some Liquid Chalk Is Antibacterial

Even if you’re diligent about cleaning the equipment, the last person to use it may not have been quite so diligent. The antibacterial properties of this liquid chalk can help to ensure you maintain a germ-free workout environment. These same properties also prevent “glove funk”. Those of us who use gloves for weightlifting, boxing, baseball or anything else know what that is… And we don’t like it! I hated throwing away my favorite neoprene gloves because I just couldn’t get that sludge out, no matter how many times I washed them. Any product that keeps that totally gross ‘funk” off my hands is a welcome addition to my workout!
