Accredited Online Homeschool K-12

If you made it to this page, you’ve likely done at least a little research on homeschooling. And you’ve likely put countless hours of thought into the subject. Can my kids be homeschooled? Do I even want my kids to be homeschooled? Would my kids be physically, emotionally, and psychologically safer in a homeschool environment? Do I have to be an accredited teacher to homeschool my kids? What resources are available to me, as a parent, for homeschooling my kids? What options do I have in homeschooling? Can I work AND homeschool my kids? And certainly, if you’re serious about potentially homeschooling your children, you’ve wondered if there’s an accredited online homeschool that could actually work for your family.

Books, Crayons, Blocks, and an apple

Well, to answer your questions:

  • Yes, any child can be homeschooled with the right resources, of course.
  • It’s 100% your decision on whether or not you want to homeschool your children.
  • You are not alone! Many parents are concerned with their children’s physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual health and well-being at traditional schools. And, like you, many have decided to look into homeschooling to protect their children and their family values.
  • You do NOT have to be a teacher to homeschool your kids.
  • There are many resources, especially online resources, that can help you with homeschooling your children.
  • There are also many options in homeschooling: From ‘just the basics’ curriculums to curriculums with hundreds of choices. From parents taking the lead role in teaching to programs that offer online learning with a live instructor. From non-accredited, to locally accredited, to nationally accredited options. From standard classroom times to completely flexible scheduling.
  • YES, you can work AND homeschool your kids. (See below for more details on this one.)
  • And, YES, there are accredited online homeschool options for you to choose from.

While there are many options… and that number is growing every day… I want to focus today on one specific type of homeschool that provides parents with the most options and by far the most flexibility. This is key, especially if you have multiple children or cannot afford to quit work to homeschool your children.

BrainFood Academy: An Accredited Online Homeschool for K – 12

BrainFood Academy is a nationally-accredited online homeschool program… Actually, it’s a fully and nationally-accredited online PRIVATE school that is 100% online. That means that it’s accredited in all 50 states AND the entire country of Australia, with more countries joining the list all the time. It also means that, as a registered private school, transcripts are accepted by all colleges. So, when your child graduates, it will be with a recognized and accepted high school diploma. This is important, especially if your child aspires to attend college or go into any field where a high school diploma is required.

Accredited Online Homeschool / Private School: Class Presentation Flexibility

One of the coolest things about the BrainFood Academy program is that it allows parents the flexibility to choose how the accredited curriculum is presented to their children. You can choose teach the curriculum yourself (the homeschool option)… Or your children can attend online classes with a live teacher (the private school option)… OR you can choose to access the recorded versions of the live-taught classes. And, of course, parents are always welcome to attend the classes with their children. No matter which presentation option you choose, the courses remain fully accredited. You can even mix it up, with you teaching certain subjects, and your child attending some live and/or some recorded classes. It all comes down to your family’s needs and preferences. How refreshing is that to hear?

Family Learning with Accredited Online Homeschool

Favorite Teacher? No Problem! Not So Favorite Teacher? Also, No Problem!

Have you ever tried to switch your child into another teacher’s class at school, because you, your child, and that particular teacher just could not seem to get on the same page? That was an ordeal, wasn’t it? Public schools are less-than-accommodating to individual student’s needs. And private schools don’t typically have a wide variety of teachers to choose from. Well, that’s not a problem with this program. You can choose whichever teacher you want… And even switch teachers anytime you want, even in the middle of a course… And you can switch multiple times.

You don’t even need to ask permission. Just attend whichever teacher’s class you want to attend. You can try out all the teachers for a particular class and decide which class you’d like to attend. When a student enjoys a class, and the teacher teaches the way the student learns, the student retains more of the learning. It’s a simple concept, but one that is simply not available in traditional schools.

Accredited Online Homeschool / Private School: Schedule Flexibility

Let’s face it. Some people are morning people and some people are night people. This applies to children, too. No matter what you do, some kids are going to sleep through an 8am class, while others thrive in the early morning hours. Some kids are absolutely DONE with engaging their brains in schoolwork by noon, while others are just now ‘coming alive’. Some kids like to power through their classes and move on to play time… While others need an activity break after every class.

Traditional schools (public and private) have rigid schedules to which all students must adhere. There’s absolutely no flexibility there. Contrast that with the BrainFood Academy program.

BrainFood Academy offers parents and children the ultimate in schedule flexibility. Classes are currently live-taught between 7am and 10pm… And recorded versions of the live classes are available 24×7. And, of course, if you choose to teach the classes yourself, you can do that any time of the day… So, you can schedule before and after work times, if that works best for you and your children.

If you have multiple children, you can allow your sleepyheads to sleep in, while your morning-people kiddos jump into their school day as early as they like. And you can work around family trips, illnesses, sports, etc. You can switch up your schedule every day, if you want.

Accredited Online Homeschool / Private School: Learning Pace Flexibility

Allowing students to each learn at their own pace is critical to ensuring that 1) no child is left behind because they don’t learn as fast as others and 2) no child is held back because they can grasp and apply concepts at a faster pace than others. This is one HUGE advantage of homeschooling and private online schooling, as it allows each individual student to move forward, as they are ready to move forward, not as the majority of the class is ready to move forward. This one advantage alone simultaneously calms children’s anxieties about ‘not measuring up’ to the rest of the class as they move forward and eases the frustration and boredom of children who are currently being forced to move at a slower pace than they want and need to move forward.

With BrainFood Academy, if a child needs to participate in the live class, then hear that same class recording multiple times to understand a certain topic… Or even take the same lesson from multiple teachers who teach the same subject differently… They can do that… and for no additional cost. That’s right, no matter how many times a student needs to take a class or how many teachers he takes classes from, the cost remains the same.

Likewise, if a child can move through all the lessons for a particular class in 2 weeks, rather than 9 weeks, they are allowed to do that. Once they pass the end-of-class test, (which they can request at any time after they’ve viewed all the lessons,) they’ll take a short break, then they can begin with their next class.

Oh, and one more thing: the courses taught by online teachers are presented from a strictly scholastic perspective. So there’s no one overriding your personal family values in the classroom.

So, what else do you need to know about BrainFood Academy?

Oh, Yeah… How Much Does It Cost?

Surprisingly, less than other online homeschool programs… And MUCH less than a brick-and-mortar private school. And, because it’s a fully-accredited private school for K-12, school vouchers (for states that offer those,) can be used for the BrainFood Academy program. Additionally, many states and institutions offer grants for students to attend private schools, such as BrainFood Academy.

So, bottom line: Here’s a breakdown of the cost of a BrainFood education program:

  1. Access to the curriculum is $99 per month, per family, up to 10 students per family. Note this is NOT a per-class fee. It includes access to the curriculum for ALL classes… for every grade level for up to TEN students for the same $99/month. If you choose to teach all classes yourself, this is your total cost for the program.
  2. If you want access to the live-zoom classes and/or to the recorded versions of those zoom classes, there is an additional cost, and that cost varies by grade level. So the total cost of the teacher taught classes will be $99/month (curriculum fee) for up to 10 children PLUS the following:
  • Kindergarten has FREE access to all zoom classes and recorded versions of zoom classes.
  • 1st grade – 8th grade cost is $109/month. As with the curriculum fee, this fee is NOT a per-class fee. It includes ALL classes available to your chosen grade.
  • 9th grade – 12th grade cost is $129/month per grade. As with the curriculum fee, this fee is NOT a per-class fee. It includes ALL classes available to your chosen grade. The high school grades offer many more courses than the lower grades. Your child can choose to take just the minimum number of courses required to graduate OR extra courses.

Interested? Yeah, me, too!

I can hardly wait for these classes to kick off in the United States in August 2023. In the meantime, I’m watching this program like a hawk. I’ll post sign-up links as soon as they’re available, so bookmark this page and come back often!

I’m hearing there will be a $1 special to sign up, which will cover your first monthly curriculum fee. That’s a $98 savings to be one of the first families to sign up.
