Molly’s Kitchen and Cooking Hacks

Hi, and Welcome to Molly’s Kitchen and Cooking Hacks! Like many people, I want my family to eat, healthy, home-cooked meals every day. But I struggle to find the time to prep, cook and serve the kind of meals I want them to eat. Can you relate? If so, read on, you’ve come to the right place.

I LOVE to cook, but even if you don’t, you’re sure to find a hack or two here that can help you in the never-ending quest to put a good, homecooked …or at least “somewhat” homecooked …meal on the table, with minimal effort (especially on school/work nights.) I’m also the Queen of Leftovers. I can make any food new again. Check out my Leftover Suggestions!

What we really need is one of those futuristic robots we saw in cartoons as kids. You know, the one where you just order the delicious meal you want, and it appears before you, beautifully plated and perfectly cooked. Alas, as far as technology has come, we’re not there yet.

So, here’s where Molly’s Kitchen and Cooking Hacks comes into play. I’ve learned a few tricks that I’ll share with you. You, too, can make homecooked…or at least “somewhat” homecooked meals, quickly and easily. I’m just getting started here, so I’ll be adding recipes, tips and hacks as I go. I’ll also add a few time-saving life hacks too, since time is something we could all use more of. Check out the lists below.

Keep in mind: Recipes are NOT set in stone!

If you don’t like a particular ingredient, substitute it with something you DO like. Or just leave it out entirely. Really like a particular ingredient? Add more…or add it to a recipe where it’s not already included. I’ll add a list of some of my favorite substitutions below. Never be afraid to experiment! Some of my favorite dishes arose from me asking the question. “I wonder what X would taste like in a dish with Y?”

I follow one or more of the following 3 simple rules when I cook. You should feel free to do the same.

  1. Bend the rules
  2. Break the rules
  3. Rules? What rules?
