Kady’s Story
Kady Zinkie was born to a sports-loving father, who supported her dreams of becoming a ballerina. She’s classically trained and has practiced ballet for more than 25 years… basically her entire life. She studied dance and acting in college… And added pre-law, as a back-up plan. But she still dances, and still loves it.
After college, Kady saw an opportunity to combine her love of dance with her father’s love of sports. She took a chance, auditioned for the Denver Nuggets Dancers, and made the team. Her father was always proud, but was even more happy that he now had the chance to connect over sports with his daughter.
It was during her time as a Denver Nuggets Dancer that Kady changed her focus from dance and pre-law to fashion design and entreprenuerism. Why? Well, that’s an easy one. As a lifetime dancer, Kady was accustomed to high-quality dance clothing, designed specifically for dancers. But as an NBA dancer, Kady found that the clothing they were provided was uncomfortable… And unflattering, to say the least. It simply couldn’t match the level of athleticism, nor honor the feminine spirit, of the female sports fan. And as she began to take notice of all the female fans in the arena, night after night, Kady saw the same ill-fitting, poor quality sports apparel on them. Why?
Kady’s Question: Why must women wear dumbed down versions of men’s clothes, simply because they want to support their favorite team?
Good question! I mean, the fit is all wrong for women… And all that polyester is just a yeast infection waiting to happen. Think about it: Is a woman any less a fan if her clothing is actually comfortable and… oh I don’t know… flattering to the female figure? I think not. So, why haven’t sportsware designers figured this one out? I can’t answer that question, but Kady has definitely found a previously-neglected niche with her Women’s Sportsware line. She even created her own custom fabrics, that blend recycled, breathable nylon and spandex… (no polyester, here!)… For a line that moves in every way that the female body can move. See it all, here!
