ADHD and Depression. Great for Anxiety, too!

by Molly’s contributor Beth J.

ADHD, Anxiety and Depression … And Anxiety… can be incredibly frustrating for not only the diagnosed individual, but also the entire family. In fact, the entire close circle of family and friends is impacted almost as if these disorders were contagious. Obviously, they’re not contagious, but they do affect the entire family…even those not diagnosed. Our family is living proof of that.

ADHD and Depression: Depiction of positive brain power

Brān Reimagined increases focus and mental acuity, which is a difficult state for individuals with ADHD to achieve. It also has feel-good components that can help promote both calmness and positive thinking, which are areas in which those diagnosed with depression and anxiety seem to struggle. Add to that the components that promote a good night’s sleep, and you have a Super Nanoceutical that may well be the greatest discovery in our lifetimes.

ADHD, Anxiety, and Depression: Our Family’s Very Personal Experience

This is super personal, and I never share details like this in an open forum. However, I talked to my children, and they agreed that if their experience could help other children like them, they want to share. Let me also add that I absolutely ABHOR fake testimonials and promotion of products designed to take advantage people desperately looking for real solutions to their very real problems. This is not one of those! This is very real.

Background

Both my boys were diagnosed with ADHD (one of them with Impulsivity and Anxiety) in first grade. Like every parent whose children are diagnosed with this or similar disorders, I struggled with putting them on prescription medications, as many of those (certainly the most prescribed medications) are “stimulants”…also called amphetamines. (See WebMD Page: ADHD Medications and Side Effects for official medical confirmation, as well as a list of known side effects and potential problems that may be more likely for those who take these medications regularly.)

But after repeating first grade, and the magnet school they attended threatening to kick them out if I didn’t medicate them, I relented. The meds did work in that the boys were much more focused, got into FAR less trouble, and became A and B students, pretty much immediately. Their teachers were thrilled with their turnaround, and complimented them and me often.

Side Effects

However, there were side effects. Side effects that the teachers never saw: Sleeplessness, Tiredness and really Bad Moods. You see, after being hyped up on amphetamines all day, by the time they got home, the boys were exhausted. My younger son, usually just retired to his room to try to relax. But my older son is much more like his mom when she’s tired: Grumpy, Grumpy, Grumpy! He couldn’t calm himself down…nor could he fall asleep easily at bedtime… and the words coming out of his mouth were, let’s say, less than cordial.

After a few years of this, he was diagnosed with depression. Now, I was even more determined than ever not to add any additional medications to his routine. In fact, after learning that other children in my extended family had also been diagnosed with depression, also after having been on ADHD medications for years (and just as the above-referenced WebMD article indicates), I was determined to get both of my children OFF of all medications as quickly as possible.

ADHD and Depression: Potential Solutions

I tried MANY things, including extra exercise sessions throughout the day, counselling, and an insanely expensive, non-drug-oriented program that promised “real” results in balancing the brain. All those things helped, and I was able to reduce the medication dosage for both boys. But even at lower dosages, the amphetamines had side effects…and the depression and anxiety didn’t improve at all, even with the weekly counselling sessions.

When COVID hit and the kids had to learn from home, I made a decision. I stopped giving the boys their ADHD medications. (I never medicated them on weekends, holidays, or summer breaks anyway.) Obviously, I knew this decision would mean that I would need to spend my entire day keeping them focused on their school work…and I most definitely was not wrong, on this point. I’m not going to sugar-coat it. It was very difficult for me to keep them focused all day. My work-from-home business suffered greatly, so I totally understand why their teachers really, really, really wanted them medicated.

But my determination paid off to an extent. My kids were able to keep up with their school work and make decent grades. And, my oldest son’s depression and anxiety seemed to be less intense… but it didn’t disappear. Still, though, it all came with a price. Namely, I was mentally exhausted at the end of the day. And my kids were really tired of me “nagging” them to get back on their schoolwork. Consequently, quality family time was non-existent. Summer couldn’t come soon enough!

ADHD, Anxiety, and Depression: Frustration Set In Again

Then, when school started again in the fall, we were back to “remote learning” and all the trials that entailed. As I laid awake in bed night after night, I kept thinking, “there MUST be a solution I’m not seeing. A solution doesn’t jeopardize our overall family health, nor the health of any individual part of our family. There simply must be.” And I prayed, “Lord, PLEASE help me help my family. I’ll do whatever it takes. I just need to know what it is I need to do.” And, I cried silently, frustrated that I didn’t know how to help my family.

Enter Brān Reimagined

ADHD and Depression: Brain Reimagined meme

When I was introduced to Brān Reimagined, I was hopeful, but HIGHLY skeptical. I studied the ingredient list and researched each and every ingredient to determine if it was safe for teens and pre-teens and to determine if any were addictive and/or could be overdosed or abused. Then, I tried it myself, first. (See my individual story, here.) After a week, I decided it was safe for my kids to try.

With the first dose, the improved concentration was VERY apparent in both boys. By the end of the week, their teachers also commented on how focused they were in their remote-learning classes. And the boys themselves said that their focus on Brān Reimagined was about the same as when they were taking their ADHD medications. AND, there’s no crash at the end of the day. The sleeplessness also vanished. In fact, their sleep habits had drastically improved!

But Best of All BY FAR

But best of all, BY FAR, is that in under 2 weeks, my oldest son began developing a positive attitude. He began saying nice things to me, to his brother and, most importantly, about himself. He actually plopped himself down next to me on the sofa and excitedly told me about his school day, something funny that happened, and all about his latest anime obsession. That hasn’t happened in the last 5 years. And, it happened THREE TIMES in the first 15 days of taking Brān Reimagined regularly.

It took every every ounce of energy I had to hold back the tears. But as soon as I was alone, the emotions flowed steadily from my eyes and down my cheeks. All the sadness, anxiety and frustration I had felt for years, gave way to relieved and happy tears. The sweet, super-friendly, happy-go-lucky boy that I knew for the first 8 years of his life is BACK… and our family feels like a family again. I could not be more grateful!

I was recently asked if I’d say that Brān Reimagined changed our family. My response: ADHD, Anxiety, and Depression changed our family. Brān Reimagined restored it.

Here’s the testimonial I recorded for this company about my family’s experience, detailing much of what I wrote above.
